TEACHING
Dr. Poon teaches Piano Pedagogy, Applied Piano, Chamber Music, Special Topics on Music Performance, Piano Literature, Music Appreciation, Music, Mind and AI, and Fundamentals of Tonal Music, an integrated introduction to music theory and musicianship skills, at the Department of Music in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Supported by five UGC teaching grants, she implemented innovative pedagogy and adopted technology that includes peer-to-peer learning and project-based learning in her courses, digital courseware development, and technology-enhanced initiatives for applied music learning.
Prior to CUHK, she worked in a multidisciplinary teaching team at the University of Macau where she integrated music performing arts into an Experiential Learning Program in the general education curriculum. She was also the program coordinator in Art and Music at the University of Saint Joseph where she led the curriculum restructure in addition to teaching in undergraduate and graduate level.
Dr. Poon directs an annual faculty-student performance project French Music Project at CUHK, an associate project in the French May Art Festival. She also curated community student performance projects and international exchange programs.
Dr. Poon is regularly invited as guest speaker in masterclasses, workshops, and seminars on a variety of topics in international conferences, professional organizations, and universities worldwide. She also serves as adjudicator in international piano competitions and performance juries in higher education institutes.
